Beverly Bowes-Hackney - Director of Tennis Beverly’s experience includes Division I NCAA Head Coach at SMU, Assistant Coach of the University of Texas, the Director of Women’s Tennis at Circle C, and a USTA National Junior Development Coach. She also has over 1000 hours of providing personal lessons to both adults and juniors, there is no doubting the substantial teaching and coaching experience that Beverly is bringing to River Place Country Club. Beverly is also an accomplished player, having earned a Top 50 World Ranking on the WTA Tour, was a Five-Time All-American at the University of Texas and in 2000 Beverly was inducted into the University of Texas Women’s Hall of Honor. *USPTA Certified

Connor Smith - Head Tennis Professional
Connor kicked off his tennis career as a three-time State Champion at Terrell Christian Academy and Kaufman High School. After that, he became an All-American at Tyler Junior College and went on to play for the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He graduated as a Razorback with a degree in sociology. Outside of tennis, Connor likes to play golf, hunt, fish, and watch the Dallas Cowboys. Connor is motivated to build relationships with our RPCC Members and teach them the game that he loves. *USPTA Certified |

Tyson Bond - Tennis Professional Tyson is a former member of the Arizona State University(Div. 1,PAC-10) tennis team from 1991-1992 and taught for 12 years in the Scottsdale area. Before moving here to Austin, Tyson taught at The Columbia Athletic Club in the Seattle area. Tyson is no stranger though to Texas as he grew up playing junior tennis in the Houston area. After leaving almost 20 years ago, Tyson was ready to get back to Texas and we are pleased to have him take an active role in every facet of our tennis program. This will include teaching both juniors and adults, assisting in promotion/organization of events, as well as helping to provide better customer service in the tennis shop. *USPTA Certified |

Susan Shaw - Tennis Professional Susan graduated from Texas State with a B.A. in Journalism/Advertising. At Texas State, she played tennis as a scholarship player and a Texas junior. She excelled in both singles and doubles and was awarded the Top Female Athlete of the Year in her conference while at Texas State. She also earned her way to Nationals as a singles player, making the round of 8 and 16’s, respectively. Susan learned early on that competition in itself is both a noble and character building endeavor…win or lose, a life lesson was always presented. Susan’s goal is to teach and share those valuable life lessons that tennis has provided her with while both on and off the court of life.

Tyler Engel - Tennis Professional Tyler graduated from Tyler Junior College where she studied in the Professional Tennis Management program while also playing on the women's tennis team. Currently Tyler is studying Sports Management: Fitness and Wellness from California University of PA. At RPCC, Tyler is delighted to be a part of both the junior development and adult tennis programs, where she hopes to create an environment where all players can develop a love for the game by making tennis FUN first. Outside of tennis, Tyler enjoys yoga, the great outdoors, and traveling. *USPTA and PTR certified |

Shane Smith- Tennis Professional Shane began playing tennis at the Super Champ level in high school and went on to place 2ndin the sate of Texas as a Senior. In college, he lettered at Tyler Junior College before joining the St. Edward’s Tennis Team. Shane works closely with our Junior and High School programs---he is eager to teach young players about precise technique and training needed to make it to the collegiate level. Aside from tennis, Shane is an Austin-based musician who enjoys traveling with his band. |
